First day of Blizzcon tickets selling out in under 5 seconds sucks in the worst sort of way. Also, ticket scalpers can suck it.

Team Fortress 2 is packed with some of the funniest incidental dialogue in any game ever, each class having a uniquely flavorful and humorous response for just about every situation whether it be a frag or a flag capture or a successful defense of a control point. While the Heavy weapons guy isn’t even close to being my primary class (that dubious honor would go to the medic, thanks medic pack!), his quips are by far my favorite of the bunch. Here are my Top 5 Heavy Quotes.

5. “What sick man sends babies to fight me?”

The Heavy is a big dude. So big that he refers to every other class as a baby. It follows that a sizable heavy chunk of his exposition involves calling his enemies babies. This one in particular happens only when you kill more than 2 guys in 20 seconds, which is not a difficult feat to accomplish considering the size of fattie’s heavy weapon.

4. “I hear someone building diaper-changing station!”

Staying true to the infant motif, this quote is a bit more difficult to come across as it involves an engineer (probably an enemy one) building a dispenser within proximity to the heavy. Personally I have not come across this one in my games, but this taunt needs no explanation as to why it’s awesome.

3. “I LOVE this doctor!”

The medic was always touted in the community as a natural partner for the Heavy. The HWG often echoes that same sentiment with this saying almost every time the medic heals him. Which is a lot. How does Valve solve this potentially repetitive dialogue pitfall? With broken english of course – it makes everything funny. I LOVE this line.

2. “Spy is not our spy!”

What’s this even mean? I see an enemy spy? There’s a spy sappin’ mah sentry? Our spy is being imitated by an enemy spy? Broken english, this time in the oft-used voice commands, makes this brain bursting phrase my number 2.

1. “We must push little cart!”

The payload game type is a slight variant on the attack-defend control point game type, featuring the escorting of the “little cart” toward the enemy base. Payload games typically involve the offense fighting tooth and nail to try to break through the defending team’s often thoroughly entrenched engineer sentry gun matrices. In that regard, the Heavy is actually a pretty good class to play on offense in this type, with his call to arms being “We must push little cart!” as he runs toward the mine cart with the rest of his cartoon team.

Honorable Mention: “Come to band-wagon!”

The actual response in game is “Come to bomb-wagon”, but I could have sworn I heard as “Come to band wagon” which is 100% better than “Come to bomb-wagon”. If it was actually band-wagon, it would have made the list without question instead of being relegated to the “so close yet so far” list of one. Too bad, I guess.

While reading through the gaming section on Digg, I stumbled upon a cool bit of news from arstechnica regarding the awesome folks at OCRemix, a prominent video game music remixing community. Apparently their Street Fighter 2 remix album, Blood on the Asphalt, caught the eyes and ears of Rey Jimenez at Capcom months back and the artists involved in the album are now working on the soundtrack to the upcoming downloadable Street Fighter II HD Remix for PSN and XBLA. Though some of the tracks are being modified/reinterpreted, the article makes it seem like the entirety of the soundtrack will be done by the OCR kids. What an incredible opportunity!

It’s definitely cool to know that I’ve got links to people in the gaming industry now, having met a couple of the remixers (djpretzel, Zircon, pixietricks) via my friend Shariq (Darkesword) a couple of times in Philadelphia for Wizardworld Comic Convention. It also gives me another point to be jealous over besides their immense musical talent: they’re being contracted by Capcom, a company I’d absolutely love to work for one day! Congratulations guys!

I can’t wait till HD Remix is released…I’ll be there day 1,

My very short list of what I want to see from E3 2008. All of which are incredibly unrealistic!

Earthbound finally brought to the Virtual Console. C’mon Nintendo! It was reviewed officially by the ESRB back in May, over 2 months ago. Stop making the starmen.net community cry. Educate nu-Nintendophiles about who Ness is and why he has appeared on three incarnations of Super Smash Brothers. Pull the trigger already, we’re all waiting for this gem.

Kid Icarus on the Wii. So what if the NES game wasn’t that good? It’s been 20 years. Announce the sequel already. The masses have spoken…and whined and cried. Hey Nintendo, do you really want to taste the salty tears of all those die hard Nintendophiles?

More retro remakes of games. Words cannot describe how excited I am to see Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Mega Man 9, and Chrono Trigger DS announced. Let’s see more of this stuff and keep the classics current, a la Stephen Totilo’s vision on an old episode of 1up Yours.

Rez for PSN to go along with the upcoming Pixeljunk Eden. Playstation Network has been home to all sorts of hyper-artsy games like Everyday Shooter and Echochrome. Rez (or a Rez sequel) being a part of that library would further cement the indie scene on PSN and additionally would mean I would finally get a chance to play it.

Anything regarding Final Fantasy XIII on the show floor. I’ll take another 15 seconds of FMV at this point. Just say something, dammit!

I don’t expect any of this stuff to be announced next week, but hey! We’re allowed to dream, right?

P.S. I’m glad I held back on getting a new 3g iPhone so I could avoid the lines and they could work out the kinks. It’s a no brainer they were going to hit load issues on day 1: the phone has gotten more buzz than anything else tech related in the world within the past month. Not surprised in the slightest that iTunes servers exploded, regardless of whether or not the problems were load related. Conversely, I did not expect the new software turning old-gen iPhones into iBricks in relation to this.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to get a 3g iPhone. But c’mon Apple, let’s do a little more testing before milking that cash cow a little more.

Every now and then, I stumble on something absurdly awesome on the web. It is my sworn duty to provide some exposure to these awesome gems of the internet.

The first gem I’ll credit to Matt who found this on gizmodo.

That’s right. Hello Kitty Antivirus AND Firewall. Your computer needs not ever fear for its safety with Hello Kitty standing guard!

I found this on a blog entry by Earnest Cavalli on Wired Game|Life. Artist “Antoinette J Citizen” recreated a room based on the first level of the original Super Mario Brothers.

I don’t think I could ever live in one of these rooms (maybe a bit too bright for me), but I would love to have the room on hand just to stare at. Awesome. I hope to see more of her work!
